Ministry to Muslims

["The Lord is ] not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9)

To reach out to the Muslim community in New York City, Hephzibah House is partnering with Love For Muslim, a ministry of ANM.  Love For Muslims  seeks to educate Christians about the doctrine and practices of Islam.

Since 9/11 the Muslim population in America has almost doubled. There are about 1.5 billion Muslims worldwide and 8 million of them live in America. Greater New York City alone has one million Muslims. What hope can we offer to them? New York City has about 7000 churches with very few involved in Muslim outreach. One of the major reasons is lack of information about the Muslims living in the city and an unfamiliarity withthe religion of Islam.

“Our job is not to convert people but to witness to them, and we do not compromise with anything that contradicts our Christian beliefs” (The Muslim Next Door by Dr. Javed).

Since our job is not to convert people but to witness to them and let the Holy Spirit take care of the rest, we take our witness very seriously. We do not compromise with anything which contradicts our Christian beliefs. The major problem with Islamic animosity toward Christianity is the belief of the Trinity. The Qur’an states that Allah has no helper/companion. Our desire is to help congregations to communicate the concept of the Trinity in a simple way.

Love For Muslims   The three concepts of ministry and training are:

 1.  Educating Christians about the doctrines and practices of Islam, what Muslims believe about Christianity, and how Christians can present the truth about Jesus Christ.

2  Giving Christians a vision of their spiritual mandate to take the gospel of Jesus to the Muslims in their communities and teaching Christians how to defend their faith in the face of Islamic claims..

3.   Equipping Christians with tools so that they can be effective witnesses of the gospel of Jesus Christ to Muslims.

“There are many similarities in Islam and Christianity, but the fundamental beliefs are entirely different. If Christians compromise on the deity of Christ, they are not Christians; if Muslims compromise on the deity of Christ, they are not Muslims”(The Muslim Next Door, by Dr. Alfonse Javed)
